A part of something bigger. A collection of small creatures that live among us.

This book is a love letter to the small inhabitants of our world. But small is relative. From microbes to whales, we are all part of the grand system we call life.

Each illustration is paired with a poem written by various poets, sourced from multiple decades. One even hails from the first century B.C. to show that humans have always been observing the world around us.

I hope it shifts the way you see the creatures around us, helps you find romance in the mundane, and welcomes you into a world of small, whatever that means to you.

The illustrations go from smallest to largest, and the last illustration refers back to the first to imply that what is big to us might be considered small if you take a different perspective.

This book was made as my final graduating project for St. Joost School of Art & Design, Illustrated & Animated Storytelling 2025. it consists of 19 illustrations that are a mixture of digital and traditional techniques.
